Ivory panel with Qur’anic inscription
Ardabil, Iran (discovery site), 1500-1525.
The panel has the 12th and 13th ayats of surah al-Insan carved in the Suluth style:
“And He rewarded them for showing patience (in their obedience to Allah), with a (paradise) garden and silk.
(Lying) leaning there on the (decorated) beds, they will see neither sun [heat] nor cold there.”
